Janelle Pickens MS, CCC-SLP, Owner/Speech-Language Pathologist

Janelle is an experienced speech-language pathologist with a heart for children with special needs and their families.  She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 1998 and her Master’s degree from Old Dominion University in 2000.  She is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.  She has worked in a variety of settings including early intervention, preschool and medical facilities.  Janelle has special interests in early language development, autism spectrum disorder, pediatric feeding development and alternative communication.  She uses many techniques to help children and families, including parent coaching and play-based intervention.  In addition, she facilitates discussions for local agencies on evidence-based practices for early intervention and was trained as a Master Coach in early intervention for the state of Ohio.

Emily Ferjencik MS, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Emily truly enjoys working with families and young children.  She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 2000 and her Master’s degree also from Miami University in 2007.  She is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.  She has worked in both clinical and home-based settings in Ohio and Massachusetts providing individual and small group therapy.  Emily’s special interests are in early language development and autism spectrum disorder.  Her favorite part of going to work is watching children learn while they play!

Audrey loves working with children of all ages! She has experience serving clients in center, school, group and individual settings but especially enjoys collaborating with families in their own home environment. Audrey graduated from Miami University in 2005 and worked as a special education teacher before completing her Master’s degree at Ohio State in 2009. She is licensed in the state of Ohio and has her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Audrey has expertise in the areas of early language intervention, Autism, Down syndrome, articulation disorders and assistive communication.

Elizabeth James MA, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Elizabeth’s ambition is to help children and their families improve the quality of their day to day lives.  She graduated in 1994 with her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and earned a Master’s degree from Kent State University in 1996.  Elizabeth is licensed in the state of Ohio and maintains her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.  She also holds a license from the Ohio Department of Education.  Elizabeth’s past experience includes working with adults in a medical setting and working with children in a school environment.   She has extensively worked with the preschool population in a school setting and has some school-age experience as well.  Currently, Elizabeth’s interests are in early intervention and implementing the coaching model to help children and families.  She enjoys seeing children and their families achieve their communication goals and feeling great about their relationship together.

Originally from Athens, Katy has lived in Columbus for the past four years where she has worked with children in a variety of clinic, school, and in-home settings.  She attended Ohio University for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees. Katy is licensed in the states of Ohio and West Virginia, and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.  Katy loves working with little ones because they make her laugh every day!

Lisa Babcanec MA, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Lisa thoroughly enjoys working with children of all ages.  Her interventions are centered on each individual family’s priorities and daily routines. Lisa graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Miami University in 2003 and her Master’s degree from Ohio University in 2005.  Lisa is licensed in the State of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.  She holds certifications in Beckman’s Oral Motor Protocol and the Neonatal Oral Motor Assessment Scale (NOMAS).  Lisa has experience in private practice as well as medical facilities.  She has special interests in early intervention, feeding disorders, hearing impairment, autism, and Down syndrome.  Lisa’s goal is to provide family-centered speech therapy of the highest quality so each child can achieve his/her full potential.

Bridget is an energetic clinician who loves working with families!  She has experience providing services for children in individual, group, classroom and home-based settings. She graduated from West Virginia University in 2007 with a B.S. in Speech Pathology/Audiology and the University of Pittsburgh in 2009 with a M.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Bridget is licensed in the state of Ohio, and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. She also is certified through the Ohio Department of Education. Bridget has a special interest in working with early intervention and preschool age children. She strives to bring fun and enthusiasm to build communication skills within the home environment and to provide families with the tools they need to help their children learn and grow!

Katie is always up for a challenge, and believes that therapy can truly be done anywhere and at anytime throughout a child’s day.  She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in 2003 and her Master’s degree from Kent State University in 2005.  Katie is licensed in the State of Ohio and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association.  She has extensive experience working with children in the birth – 5 years age and with children diagnosed with various genetic syndromes, developmental delays, autism, cerebral palsy and children with feeding difficulties.  She holds certifications in the Hanen Program and Beckman’s Oral Motor protocol and along with experience with Alternative and Augmentative Communication device.  She has a special interest in the transdisciplinary approach to service delivery for children and was trained as a Master Coach in early intervention for the state of Ohio.

Jodi Newcomb, MA, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Jodi is an enthusiastic speech-language pathologist and mother of two young boys.  She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1997 from Miami University and completed her Master’s Degree at The Ohio State University in 1999.  Jodi is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association.  She has worked with children in public schools, early intervention, and hospital/clinic settings. Jodi specializes in speech sound development/speech production and has a strong experience base in early language development.  Her approach to therapy is fun and friendly, filled with songs and “sillies”, but built on a firm foundation of knowledge and practical experience.  She feels family involvement and support are the keys to success

Katie has a great deal of experience with children! She taught preschool and first grade before becoming a certified speech language pathologist. She graduated from The College of Wooster in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and disorders. She went on to get her teaching certificate and while teaching first grade finished her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2009. She is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Katie has a love for children and a great enthusiasm for helping families! Katie works full time in a school district and works for Cornerstone Speech Therapy on a PRN basis.

Stephanie is an accomplished speech-language pathologist with over 14 years of experience. She has worked with a variety of pediatric patients and their families. Stephanie graduated with her Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and received her Master’s degree from University of Illinois. She is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Stephanie’s background includes experience in the medical setting and school setting. Stephanie’s current interest is in early intervention and including parents in all aspects of therapy. She believes that the family is a vital component in helping each and every child achieve their communication goals.

Meaghan Wilson, MA, CCC-SLP, Speech-Language Pathologist

Meaghan is a practiced early childhood speech-language pathologist and busy mother of three young children! She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1999 from Drew University in Madison, NJ, and completed her Master’s degree in 2006 at Montclair State University in Montclair, NJ. Meaghan lived and worked in New Hampshire for several years before relocating to Ohio with her family in 2011. While in New Hampshire, she gained training and experience in providing family-centered speech therapy services to young children in their homes. She is licensed in the states of Ohio and New Hampshire, and holds a Certificate of Clinical Completence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is also certified by the Ohio Department of Education. Her special interests include early childhood language development, family-centered and play-based interventions, and stuttering/fluency disorders. She comes to Cornerstone with a strong belief that best practice in speech therapy means including families and providing services in a child’s natural environment.

Katie is a passionate and devoted clinician who enjoys working with children of all ages and abilities!  She is dedicated to making the delivery of speech and language services a delightful and comfortable experience for both children and families.  Katie graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in 2007 from Bowling Green State University and then completed her Master’s degree in 2009 from Ohio University.  She is licensed in the state of Ohio and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.   She also holds a license from the Ohio Department of Education.  Katie has experience working with children in a variety of clinical and school settings and values the ability to collaborate with families, caregivers, and teachers to help each child achieve his or her fullest potential!
